Raising funds to support children at our school in Namakoko
Anne Lotter is personally raising funds to support children at our school in Namakoko, on the north shore of Lake Victoria, Uganda. £1,000 will ensure that every schoolchild in this poor subsistence farming and fishing community gets a meal every day for the next year. Without our help, the children will go hungry.
By providing a daily lunch to children in school we remove hunger as a barrier to learning. An active feeding programme encourages pupils to attend school in the first place and then keeps them there throughout the day.
The money will buy posho or ugali, a maize flour cooked with water to make a porridge, and beans. This may be the only meal children eat each day.
Anne wanted to thank her donors:
“Thank you SO much for donating to my fundraising page for the children of Namakoko Primary in Uganda. I am delighted to say that I have reached my target and the children will get lunch every day at school for the next year. I have already purchased the first bags of maize flour for them and I am sure they too would want to thank you."
